William "Bill" Hicks

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. William who was well known as Mr. Bill worked at Carter Elementary school for 44 years.

He was preceded in death by parents, George and Ethel Hicks; daughter, Diane Hicks; son, William Hicks Jr; granddaughter, Heather Wilson and brother, Harley Hicks.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma (Fisher) Hicks; sons, Randy (Claudia) Wilson, Daniel Hicks; daughter, Kimberly Hicks; 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Shaun and Casey; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Louise Hicks. Several nieces, nephews and family also survive.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home 7426 Asheville, Hwy. Family and friends will meet Friday, February 9, 2024, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery,Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville for a 12:30 graveside service.
