Waymon Octave Giggey Jr.

Waymon O. Giggey, Jr., age 87 passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Waymon was born and raised in Maine and later moved to Quincy, Massachusetts where he and Mary raised their family. He served in the US Marines from 1952 until 1953 and served in the Reserves until 1960. After returning from the service, Waymon began his career as an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Houghs Neck Congregational Church where he served as a Deacon, Cubmaster, Webelos Leader and a committee member for both Pack and Troop 6. Waymon received the Pop Josselyn Award for all his years of service with the Scouts. He was an avid golfer after learning the game at age 65. Waymon was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon and Eunice Giggey; sisters, Shirley May, Lorraine Rachel, Charlotte Louise and Eleanor May; and brother, Delmar Joseph. Survivors include wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth Chase Giggey; daughter, Sheena Curley and husband William; sons, John and wife Susan, Stephen and wife Antonette, and Joseph and wife Jennifer Giggey; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at a later date at the Houghs Neck Congregational Church, 310 Manet Ave. Quincy, MA. 02169. Memorials may be made to Houghs Neck Congregational Church.
