Virginia Louise Wilson died on March 15, 2022 in the Lord and full of days. She was born on June 16, 1924 in the mountains of Mitchell County, North Carolina. Her childhood was spent on a farm on a mountain with her parents and three brothers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Elle Mae Wilson, her husband Russell Wilson and her infant son, Frank Russell Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Susanne McLendon and son Donald (Janie) Wilson, her grandchildren, Angie McLendon, Rusty (Julie) McLendon, Matthew (Savanna) Wilson, great-grandchildren Carter McLendon, Bennett McLendon, Ellie Kate McLendon, Kaylee Wilson, Noah Wilson and Jonah Wilson.
Louise and Russell were married for 59 years. They planted their lives in the Rocky Hill community and Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Her life work was her home and family. She invested her gifts, abilities and energy into loving Russell and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louise was happiest cooking for a full house of family and friends. In their retirement years they loved fishing the lakes of East Tennessee and hiking in the Smoky Mountain National Park together. She especially loved going to Cades Cove to picnic.
Louise loved life and laughter with friends and family, cooking, church, traveling and home and her chocolate.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at The Nursing Center at Little Creek.
A visitation will be held for Louise on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 5-7pm with a 7pm service to follow at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery - Lyons View Pike on March 22, 2022 at 1pm.
