Steve Ray Thomas

Thomas, Steve Ray age 61 of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. He was a member and Elder of Second Presbyterian Church, where he served several years as Clerk of Session. Steve was a Professor Emeritus of Libraries at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. While at UTK he served on and chaired several committees, including a term as President of Faculty Senate. He was a faithful Medic blood donor. Steve was a wonderful, loving and humble man who will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Gladys Thomas, aunt Polly Terry and brother Kenneth Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 18 years Kathy Thomas, sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Mike Armstrong, sister Barbara Pressley, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Wanda Thomas, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donna and Mike Jones and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 4-7pm at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. On Monday, July 20, 2015 A Celebration of Life will be held at Second Presbyterian Church with a Reception from 11:30am-12:45pm and Service to follow at 1pm with Dr. James H. Rucker, Jr. and Rev. Ronald M. Thomas officiating. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are members of the Christian Leadership Concepts (Men’s Bible Study). Interment Services will be in the Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery at 2:30pm.
