Roy Richard Thacker

Roy Richard Thacker, age 69, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away at home surrounded by love and family on November 15, 2023. He will be remembered as a kind hardworking man who was totally dedicated to family. Born November 16, 1953 in Knoxville, TN, Roy was raised in a loving family led by his parents, Kennard and Alice Thacker. He spent his youth and school years as a military dependent stateside and in Japan before returning to Knoxville and graduating from Young High School. He retired from Kroger after 47 years with the company. He enjoyed bowling, collecting coins, estate sales and antique shopping. He was also a dedicated fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and climbed Mt. Fuji three times. Roy, also known to his family as Rick, was preceded in death by his grandparents, Monroe and Grace (Dyer) Lewis; parents, Alice (Lewis) and Kennard Thacker; sister, Theresa (Thacker) Shubert; and step-son, Brian Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Lynda (Mayoza) Thacker; children, Lezlie (Larry) Gann and Amanda (Patrick) Beeler, Victoria Holmes, Zacharey Holmes and Kristina Holmes; step-sons, Jeff (Rachel) Holmes and Thomas (Ashlee) Holmes; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Josh, Brook, Kena, Addi, Stephen, Cody and Easton; his sister, Sarah (Thacker) Anderson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He had many friends and neighbors that he considered family of the heart. He left us all with his legacy of the Lord's love and grace reflected through him. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by many. The graveside service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
