Robert E. Vandiver went to his heavenly father on September 25th. Robert, known as Bob to many, was born on December 21, 1932 in Birmingham, AL. Graduated from Auburn University in Industrial Engineering and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, followed by a 44 year career as the “Boss Man” at Johnson Controls in Knoxville, TN. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gail McWhorter Vandiver; children, Robin and Bill Lyon, Connie and Steve Ziehmn, Greg and Pam Vandiver and Karen and Scott Milligan; grandchildren , Amanda Gibson, Adam Lyon, Gage Ziehmn and Doruk, Kyler Ziehmn, Stephanie Ziehmn, Eric Vandiver and Sarah, Matt Vandiver and Sarah, Grady and Brandy Milligan, Troy Milligan and Lauren; great-grandson, Brady Gibson. Bob was blessed with a multitude of friends. He was an active, loving member of Trinity United Methodist as “Chief Geezer”, Sunday school teacher and numerous other rolls. Many people in the community knew him for his years of coaching youth football. The family will receive friends Friday, September 29th from 5-7 pm for the Celebration of Life followed by a service at 7 pm at Trinity United Methodist. The family will have a private interment 1 pm Thursday at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist.
