Bob passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022. He was a 1957 graduate of Fulton High School and earned a B.S. in Business with a major in Journalism from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He was a past member of the Knoxville Civitan Club, Civil War Roundtable, Quarterback Club and Toastmasters. He served in the Army Reserves for 7 years including six months of active duty. Bob worked in sales with Knoxville Paper Box Company which later became Rock-Tenn Co.; Fidelity Sales Corporation; and Sir Speedy Printing Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Knoxville and attended Central Baptist Church where he was a member of the Chuck Chance Sunday School class.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents: Horace L. Harper, Sr. and Margaret Harris Harper; brother and his wife: Horace L. Harper, Jr. and Mary Williams Harper, Knoxville. Survivors: wife of 57 years, Rebecca (Becky) Ford Harper; nephew: Wade (Susan) Harper, Georgetown, SC; nieces: Margaret (Mark) Barrow, Columbia, SC; Carol (Craig) Wehinger, Knoxville; Cindy (Matt) Job, Mt. Pleasant, SC. and five great-nephews and eight great-nieces.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11am at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Mark Moreland officiating.
The family wishes to thank friends and neighbors who have supported and loved Bob throughout the years. The family is so grateful for the wonderful caregiving services of Mary Carr, Brent Mallo. Ethan Bratrud, and Michael Baer. They are true heroes. Many thanks to the UT Hospice RNs and CAs for their caring and loving attitude towards Bob and his family.
