Patricia Kay Buckner Bales, age 84, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at her home. She was a resident of Corryton for 80 years. Pat attended Corryton Elementary School, Gibbs High School, and graduated from Carson Newman College. She attended Corryton Baptist Church, Beaver Dam Baptist Church and was currently a member of Mouth of Richland Baptist Church. Pat worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bill Davis for over 20 years and later was a Motorcycle Safety Instructor and officer in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Preceded in death by parents, Walter E. (Buck) Buckner and Hazel Hammer Buckner; step-mothers, Ruth Sowder and Callie Walters; step-sister, Joan Clark.
Survived by husband of 62 years, William Carroll Bales; sons, William Victor Bales (Melinda) and Edward Lloyd Bales (Tonya); grandchildren, Elijah (Emily) Bales, Gavin (Karly) Bales, Quentin (Erica) Bales, Jordon (Rachel) Jennings, Jordan (Chelsea) Bales, Morgan (Eric) Fight; great-grandchildren, Tommy, Walker, Tatum, and William Bales and Alice Fight; step-brother, Wayne (Elizabeth) Sowder.
The family will receive friends 5 - 7 pm Monday with the funeral to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home 2300 Adair Drive. Rev. Bryan Wright and Rev. Nick Wright will officiate. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 10:45 am Tuesday for the 11 am graveside service.
