Owen Conway Seay

He retired from Knoxville Fire Department with over 25 years of service. Owen was a driver at fire station # 13 in Vestal which was newly opened in the summer of 1962. He knew the neighborhood roads and the community folks and was well respected. Promotions were offered but he turned them down to remain at station #13. He took the time to serve on various community organization committees and was appointed by Knox County Commission to be on the Knox County Jail Inspection Board and was honored to serve. He was a frequent and loved writer for The South Knoxville Packet doing informative and comical articles. He was an organizer of the South Knoxville Festival which was a popular event at the time.

Owen is preceded in death by his Beloved Wife of 41 years, Agnes Louise Johnson Seay; Parents, Enoch Franklin and Dorothy Money Seay; Grandparents, Reuben Conway and Ella Cobble See (Seay), Owen Samuel and Elizabeth McDaniel Money; Grandsons, Corey Carroll Seay, John Ben Seay; Son-in-law, David Chandler; Brothers, Glenn, Newman; Sister, Nancy Long; Brothers and Sister-in-laws, Thomas Long, Jerome Currie, Woody Blann, Doris Dawson Seay and Nephew, Chris Long.

He is survived by his Children, Eddie Carroll, Connie Lynn Chandler, Allen Conway, Robin Dawn Bales and Frankie Ray; Grandchildren, Karen Chandler Braden (Marvin), Eric Seay, Brandon Bales, Lindsay Black (Michael), Lindsey Lashea Walker (Steven), Audrey Seay (Tyler Josey), Lacey Seay;

Great Grandchildren, Donovan Black, Tyler Braden, Brekyn Seay, Anden Black, Brantley Black, Kyndall Walker; Brother, William (Lois); Sisters, Lillian Currie, D. Gale Seay, Molly Lundberg (Lowell); Sister-in-Law, Della Gibson Seay; many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews that were adored by Owen; long-time friends, Rose Maffeo, Judy Johnson, Jan Coleman Seay, Michelle Brown Seay, Jerry Smelcer, Darrell Wolfenbarger and Shauhn Rader.

A dedicated son, loving husband, devoted father, caring grandfather, trusted brother, dear uncle, good neighbor and friend.

Smile if he ever pinched your nose... He gave much to many on his journey of life on earth. May he find a comforting rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
