Mattie Jean Drew- age 92, joined her loving husband and son in heaven on April 5, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her happiest days were spent opening her home to family and simply hanging out with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Crosby Lawrence Drew Jr.; son Crosby (Butch) Lawrence Drew III; father and mother Reverend Fred Walter Ownby and Orlena Whaley Ownby; and sons-in-laws Mike Hughes and Cherokee Hembree.
She is survived by sisters, Naomi Farmer and Bobbie Underwood; daughters, Brenda Sweat, Susan (Jerry) Klaehn and Debbie Hembree; sons Bill (Darlene) Drew and David (Leslie) Drew; Daughter-In-Law, Kathy Drew; Grandchildren Robby Sweat, Tessey (Fred) Bell, Timmy (Regina) Drew, Michael B. (Amy) Hughes, Apryl Sweat, Chad Jessie, Candice (Monte) Drew, Shane Drew, Megan (Chris) Dorn, and Amy Drew as well as many precious great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2 to 4 pm at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike with funeral services to follow at 4 pm. Graveside services will be held on April 11, 2022 at 11am at Berry Highland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Knoxville.
