Mason Dale Tucker was born in Knoxville, TN on January 13, 1992, to Twilla and Benjamin Harold. Mason has one brother Derek Benjamin Tucker, age 33. Derek's and his wife, Jennifer Tucker have two children, Dominic, age 5 and John, age 1. Shortly after Mason's birth, his parents split and the birth father ceased having any contact with the children. In October 1993, Mother and two sons moved to Eagle Den subdivision in Seymour, TN, where Mason and Derek acquired an extended family through the cul-de-sac neighbors, Mike, Penny, Paige and MeKenzie Huff; and Ben, Anna, Jennifer, Sarah and Rebecca Hatmaker and many others. Mason had a special bond with his uncle James Ruth and wife Susanne Ruth. Whenever Uncle Jimmy came to visit, the neighbor kids would scream “Uncle Jimmy is here” and would race to Mason's home to play with Uncle Jimmy. This bond stayed with Mason through out his life. In 1994, the Hatmakers introduced the family to Valley Grove Baptist Church through Vacation Bible School and the great Childrens ministry there. Mason was so active in church that his family and friends (Penny Huff) thought he would grown up to be a preacher. Whenever his mother yelled at him he would quote Ephesians 4: 32 “Be yea kind one to another”. Whenever his mother was stressed, he would quote 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all yours cares on HIM as HE cares for you.” Mason loved memorizing the Bible and telling everyone. In 4th grade his lead his best friend, Justin Wiley to Christ. Mason was baptized and became a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church when he was 11 years old February 23, 2003.
Twilla met her further husband, James Henry Tucker, Jr., through the active Singles Class. On February 13, 1999, Twilla and Jim were married and Jim adopted the two boys. The family moved to South Knoxville. Three short years later, on November 22, 2002, the family was privileged to adopt a 14 month old girl named Geovana. Mason could not pronounce his sister's name and struggled saying “Gigi”. As such, this precious girl got the nickname Gigi. At adoption her official name was Geovana Jean Tucker. Mason loved his sister and protected her from anyone who tried to bully her. Geovana's significant boyfriend is Alexander Guess, and this couple live in Knoxville, TN.
Mason attended Knox County Schools and graduated from South Doyle High School in 2010. His favorite subject was band where he loved to march and play his trumpet. He also became a member of Drum Corp Internationals Colts Marching Band, Dubuque, Iowa, where he marched for two summer seasons and made many lifelong friends.
Mason had many friends. One special friend was Trey Samuel and his family. Unfortunately, Trey died several years ago. Not only did he make many friends, but Mason also made friends with his friends' parents: specifically with Justin Wiley and his mother, Beverly; Jake Smith and his father Greg; Michael LeSueur and his mother Terri; and Austin Smith and parents Jean and Ken Lennon.
Mason's death was caused by alcoholism which lead to liver and kidney failure. Mason was cremated. His Memorial Service will be on January 13, 2023, at 6 PM at Valley Grove Baptist Church, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920.
