Mrs. Mary Lee Ellis, 88, of Seymour, TN went to be with Jesus and her husband, Ollie Ellis on Thursday August 13, 2020 at Dominion Assisted Living in Sevierville. Mary Lee was born to Estelle and Raymond Norton in Seymour. She grew up attending and serving at Trundles Methodist Church, while attending Chilhowee Baptist Academy. She was very active in the church and community her entire life starting with basketball at her school.
Mary Lee was a part of the small congregation that started Seymour Community Church and School. She served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ everyday through helping her family, community and church. She taught a Sunday School class, Children’s Church, worked in AWANAs and baked bread for the entire community. She loved life and helping and serving others.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years Ollie Ellis; sister, Louise McCarter; brother, Jim Norton.
She leaves a legacy here on earth of children, Wayne (Jo) Ellis, Danny (Debbie) Ellis, Debbie Mackey; sister, Helen (Hubert) McCarter; brother, David (Jimmie) Norton; grandchildren, Brandon (Alison) Ellis, Lauren Mackey, Darren Ellis, Lee Ellis, Chase Mackey and Melissa (Jon) Tyus, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Herbert (Shirley) Ellis and several nieces, nephews, cousins and the entire Seymour community that had been her home for the past eighty-eight years.
Special thanks to Dominion Assisted Living who took care of her the last three years like family.
Prayers and thoughts are appreciated as we will miss her but rejoice with her being whole again in heaven.
Open calling hours for Mary Lee will be at Berry Highland South, 9010 E. Simpson Rd., Knoxville, TN 37920 on Sunday August 16, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service to honor Mary Lee on Monday August 17, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 E. Simpson Rd., Knoxville, TN 37920 with Rev.
