Martha Helen Pennington

Martha Helen Pennington, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on May 24th 2023 at the age of 90. She is survived by her brother Denisville Brinegar, her children Troy, Sally, Ramona, Michael and Aleta Pennington, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

She was born in West Virginia on August 19, 1932, Helen lived a life full of love and care for her family. She dedicated her life to raising her children and being a loving grandmother to her grandchildren.

Those who knew Helen remember her for her nurturing spirit and generosity. She was always ready with a warm embrace, a listening ear, and a delicious home cooked meal. Whether it was cooking for her grandchildren or chasing them down with a switch, that she made them pick themselves (except for Crystal Pennington of course lol, never got the switch), she treasured the precious moments spent with her family.

Helen found joy in the simple things in life, such as crafting, cooking, and spending time with loved ones. She was the heart of her family, providing a loving space for all who entered her home.

While Helen was not involved in any particular church, her faith was a driving force in her life. She was a devout Christian woman who lived by her values of compassion, kindness, and selflessness.

Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and devotion to her family will never be forgotten.

May she rest in peace, knowing that she was and always will be deeply loved.

A graveside service for Helen will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Berry Highland South, 9010 Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920.
