He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Opal J. Ellis; siblings, Alvin Ellis, Kenneth Ellis and Sarah Burke. Marshall is survived by his brother, Scott Ellis; daughter, Kim Ellis York (Vaughn); son, David Ellis; grandsons, Trey York, Evan Ellis and Justin Ellis; great-grandchildren, Kate Rose York and Vaughn York, IV.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2022 with a service to follow at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Interment will take place at Edgewood Cemetery, Knoxville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
