Lois Marie (McCarty) McGinnis - age 84 of Knoxville was called home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Lois was born in Flat Hollow (LaFolllette), Tennessee, Feb. 7, 1940, graduated from Fulton High School in 1957 and briefly attended ETSU. She married Curtis McGinnis (also of Fulton ‘57) on Feb. 27, 1959, at the age of 19. She enjoyed a 26-year career as an Administrative Assistant at “the lab” in Oak Ridge and retired in 1988 to join Curtis at Cedar Springs Christian Bookstore, which they founded together in 1976. She retired from there in 2007. She loved to sing, play piano, swim, read (everything) and be called “Nina.” She loved to travel, take scenic drives, watch the wildlife from her kitchen window, all things Vols and dance - all with Curtis. She was blessed to have received a kidney transplant which gave her life for 30 more years. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Karns for 60 years and has many long-time, dear friends there.
She will be cherished by Curtis McGinnis, her loving and caring husband of (15 days short of) 65 years, daughter, Vicki McGinnis Geist and Joe, and son, Link McGinnis and Christi; grandchildren, David Geist and Rachel, Ryan Geist and Amy, Cory McGinnis and Jessica, Hannah McGinnis, Joshua McGinnis and Leah McGinnis; and 5 adorable great-grandchildren, Will, Emily, Aiden, Ensley and Benjamin. She loved them all very much and prayed expectantly for each one. She was preceded in death by parents, Jess Lee and Ada Mildred Cordell McCarty and sister, Carol McCarty.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and chapel service at 1:00 PM at Weavers Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at 3:00 PM at Oak Ridge Memorial for a graveside service.
