Cordell, Linda Faye Johnson, age 69, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 5:54 a.m. Linda was a Young High School graduate and soon after began her career with South Central Bell and retired from AT&T in March of 2000. She enjoyed shopping and golfing and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, James G. Cordell; parents, Lindsay and Lena Johnson; brother, Don Johnson; sisters, Juanita Pollard and Dorothy Rose. Survivors include her children, Thomas Scott Smith; Teresa Smith St. John; and David Craig Smith; grandchildren, Samantha Smith, Caleb St. John, Aaron St. John, David Alex Smith, Chris Cates, Samantha Cates and Makaylia Cates; brothers, Lindsay Johnson Jr., Floyd Johnson, Terry Johnson; sisters, Josephine Cannon, and twin sister, Brenda Johnson. Family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, with a celebration of life service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Clarence Gresham will officiate. Family and friends will meet Monday, March 26, 2012 at Highland South Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. interment service.
