I never got the chance to meet Leona. I was Terry’s Aunt Linda Key Pierce. I hadn’t got to see him for a very long time. I am from TN. but live in Ohio now. I know Terry was crazy about her. I had talked to Terry’s Brother Jerry the day after Leona passed. Jerry said Terry told him he didn’t know what he would do without her. I am so sorry for her families loss. 

This cannot be real i just talked to you called me on my bday on the 7th. Lord Im gonna miss you sooooo much !!! Heaven gained another beautiful soul. I now have you Jeff  my mom dad and 2 sisters  watching over the kids and I . Oh how I wish instead of beautiful heaven you all were on this earth but you all are in a much more beautiful safer place. Fly high my most bestfriend. I love and miss you beyond words!!! Me and Zack will forever miss you!!! 😭😭💖💕💞

I never got to meet Leona but my first cousin, Terry( her husband) spoke highly of her- she was his true love. Prayers and condolences for the family

I wasn't around her only when visiting her dad. I remember she really loved the Lord. So I know she went home to him , maybe I will get to spend more time with her when I go home. 

I don’t have one favorite memory of Leona because I have so many. Leona and Denise taught Jettie and myself so much. We were younger than them so they had to take care of us a lot. Leona was always so funny. We never had a dull moment around her. She was always laughing. She was beautiful and we all wanted to be as pretty as her. Rest easy now Leona, tell Carol and Jeff I love them.

I am so very sad right now because I just saw your message on Facebook that you sent me about your mom’s passing.  Josh and I both wanted to let you know how very sorry we are to hear about Leona. 

As you already know I just absolutely adored Leona and would literally do anything for her. I am deeply saddened because I had just tried reaching out to your mom a couple of weeks ago and now I’m upset with myself because I should have taken the time and tried calling back several more times until I was able to reach her. 

Shane, you, Terry and your mom will be in our prayers and please know if there’s anything we can do for you during the very difficult time and loss, please know that you’re more than welcome to stop by our house anytime buddy. Please tell Terry how sorry we are for his loss and we send him our love too. 

I’ve tried calling you tonight but was unsuccessful which is totally understandable. If you feel up to talking please give me a call anytime. I’m here for you, Shane.

This was my best friend when we was growing up going to WB Muncy school and also some High School.  I stayed many  of a night with her at Jetties and she also stayed with me some. They are a lot of thing we done that I wouldn't even want know one else to even go there not in these days and times.  We had a wonderful life growing up and I wouldn't take nothing back that we done and all the time we spent together.  She was the type of friend you could never forget.  We hadn't saw each other in a lot of years but I know the love between us was still there.  I will never forget the memories we shared  together and would not change a thing that  we done.  Love her so much. Rest in peace my wonderful best friend. Prayers for the family.


Leona was my second mother. I have lots of great memories of her. The one I’m going to share is about a cake. Not just any cake, a Kevin Costner cake. She was in the process of making it as I came in to play some grand turismo with Shane on the PlayStation, so she talked this cake up to being the greatest thing ever. She wasn’t wrong. It was the only time I have ever had one and I have never forgotten how good it was or how excited she was to make it for us. That is the Leona I will always remember and love. 

I don't know life without Leona. Being her aunt and she just 3 yrs older we were more like sisters. Her and her 4 sibling, being my sister Carol's children, we were raised together.  Loving, laughing,  fighting, experiencing many firsts together. My childhood is full of memories with Leona. Smart, she was so bright, funny, so funny and loving.  The years got away from us, living in different states, raising our families. Leona and Flint taught me to drive, or should I say let me drive, yrs before I was legal.  We would run the roads in Hazard, swim at Buckhorn or Carsfork, summer's and weekends on Lake Cumerland, riding in the back of Emmitt's truck with coolers of food and drink on our way the cabin, sled down Main Lane Hill, have firecracker fights, we'd walk to the river, swing on the rope that dropped you in the river, riding motorcycles, walk everywhere until someone learned to drive. Gosh, we did so much together! She told me the night she met Mark Rector working at Long John Silver's. She said he looked like Peter Frampton and she would marry him. And she did.  She is part of some of my favorite memories.  I loved her so and always will. I'll see her again. Until then.....May our Lord bring peace and comfort in the days ahead for the loved ones left behind.
