John Pinkney Moore

John P. Moore, age 90, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church since 1958. He formerly served as a member and chairman of the trustees. John is also a former member of Shekinah Lodge, Scottish Rite Temple and Kerbela Temple. John proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corp and the United States Army. In retirement John spent many hours in his woodworking shop or as he coined "the office." John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Sally McBride Moore; sons, John P. Moore, Jr. and wife Sherry; Stephen M. Moore and wife, Angela; daughter, Christina J. Waugh and husband, David; grandsons: John P. Moore III, James R. Moore, Nicholas A. Estes-Davis, Derek S. Moore; granddaughters Candace Baker and Tiffany Shingleton; great-grandsons: Johnathon, Hudson, Logan, Stephen, Samuel, Jeremiah, Zachariah, and Abraham; great-granddaughter, Lilly; step-grandchildren Davey and Ashley Waugh. Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at New Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, 943 Kimberlin Heights Road at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 26, 2018 for graveside services.
