John often called himself "The Redneck" and wore that distinction with pride for good reason. He was a good friend in the retail outlet industry for many years and had that rare gift of making everyone feel like they were  regarded as a special friend by his genuine warmth and the gladness he exuded in face to face encounters or a phone call.  He left his indelible mark not only on our industry and properties across the US, but on our hearts.  And those are not just flowery words--it is the truth that countless friends will attest to.  Thank you brother John for your wit and humor, your insights and wisdom and your ability to bring things back into perspective.  I miss your voice but I hear it still.  God bless all his family with sweet memories and peace.

My most sincere condolences to John's wife, Alba. You were so loving to animals which is what brought us to know each other. I have shared a photo of Abraham, one of LP's six kittens we rescued and Midnight's brother. The girls found loving homes in pairs and I kept Abraham. He will always remind me of you both. It was my privilege to know you both.

Rest In Peace Uncle John. 

You always treated me and our family with kindness and a loving and generous spirit.  I cherish the memories of spending the weekends with you and Blenda when I was a kid. I’m so sorry that things made the turn they did but I know you aren’t in pain and suffering anymore.  Wishing you peace and joy as your spirit flies free…thank you for your kindness…you will be missed.  
To Johnny, Jennifer, Blenda, Ruth and the entire family I wish for you moments of laughter and smiles as you remember John and a lifetime of memories.  Honor him by loving and supporting each other and by living your best lives guided by his spirit.  Love and peace  to you all.  

We are keeping John's family and loved ones in our hearts and prayers. He was greatly respected, admired and loved by his many, many colleagues. Each of us has a special John Lane memory, and the luckiest of us have many. 

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, rest in peace. Amen.

John has been a friend in the outlet center industry for 25 years.  I will miss his warm smile while he looked you in the eyes, his "twinkle" in those eyes, and his sense of warmth and caring for all those around him. When relaxing, he sure enjoyed his pipe!

He had much success in business for his integrity and fair dealings.  He was always direct and "shot straight".  His humble spirit and sense of humor will be missed!

A 40-year friend in our industry, John was the best of all of us.  Will miss his fantastic humor, the great stories, his unending outreach to help others, and his regular calling me "the redneck of the North".  We negotiated many deals together, often changing places over time, and I must say -- it was pure joy.

Why the best are taken too soon, i guess we'll never know.  May our dear friend know peace.
