Jerry Lynn Helton, 65, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Paoli Trauma Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jerry was a 1968 graduate of Rule High School and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins the same year. Jerry was an avid sports lover and was a long-time baseball and softball player in the Knoxville area, and carried the spirit of competition with him throughout his life. He enjoyed watching his two sons play sports and spending time with his daughter. He and his wife Lynda divided their time between their home on Norris Lake and their home in Malvern, PA. Jerry is preceded in death by his father, James (Bull) Helton. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Courville Helton and children; Rodney Helton (Kristi), Todd Helton (Christy), Melissa Helton and 6 grandchildren; Lilyana Helton, Oakley Helton, Kallee Rose Helton, Tierney Faith Helton, Gentry Grace Helton and Chase Kane. He is also survived by his step-children; Reed Mazzie (Alex), Emily Krawzyk (Nathan), and Olivia Mazzie. Jerry is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Helton and brothers/sisters; Joel Helton (Chris), Ronnie Helton (Kelly), Debbie Keebler (David), Tim Helton, Jamie Helton and Tonya Lackey (Victor). He also leaves to cherish his memory 7 nephews and 5 nieces. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Smithwood Baptist Church, 4914 Jacksboro Pike, Knoxville TN with funeral service immediately following. Graveside service will be conducted Friday, March 13 at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 W.
