James H. Monroe Jr.

James H. Monroe Jr., age 98, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024. James was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. He retired from General Motors after serving 30 years without an absentee. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, fishing and was a member of numerous fishing clubs. He liked to take things apart and loved watching western movies especially John Wayne.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred Irene Monroe; son, Genn Monroe; parents, James and Ethel Monroe, and several immediate family members.

James is survived by his sons, Donald (Margie) Monroe, Ronnie Monroe, David (Billie) Monroe, Gordon (Dolores) Monroe; several grand children, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; brothers, Steve Monroe, Marcus Monroe and Paul Monroe.

The family will received friends Wednesday July 17, 2024 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a funeral immediately following at 7:00pm, in the Magnolia Chapel at Berry Highland South Funeral Home, 9010 E. Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will gather on Thursday July 18, 2024 at 10:45am for an 11:00am graveside service at Berry Highland South Cemetery.
