James "Jim" William Michaels, age 81, of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory after 22 years working as a pipe fitter. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors and watching the Vols play. He loved his Lord and spending time with his devoted wife of 59 years. Jim enjoyed Sunday lunches with his family and being Papaw to his 5 grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his father, Horace; mother, Ruth Michaels and sister, Mary Anne Michaels.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Michaels; daughters, Regina (Jeremy) Pearson and Beverly (Kyle) Little; grandchildren: McCray and Sawyer Pearson, Britton, Caroline and Porter Little; brothers: H.E. Michaels Jr., David (Patty) Michaels; brothers and sister-in-law, C.L. Thomas, James (Peggy) Thomas, Brownlow (Marilyn) Thomas, Rebecca Childs, John (Brenda) Thomas and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Professional Case Management, especially, Lori Jordan and Velissa Carter.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Stock Creek Baptist Church, 8106 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville, TN with a service to follow at 7:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Scott Hood. Family and friends will meet Friday, October 20, 2023, at Stock Creek Cemetery for an 11:00 AM Interment.
