Jack H. Cockrum, age 93, of Knoxville, born October 21, 1928, passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home. He was a long standing member of Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church. Jack was a devout Christian and was the Patriarch of the family. He had a deep devotion to spread the gospel and was happy to go home to be with the Lord. He was a Korean War Veteran of U.S. Army. Jack retired from TVA and was a former president of Cockrum Lumber Company, his family business. Preceded in death by wives, Annetta Cockrum and Peg Jamison; son, Terry; grandson, Rick Powell; parents, George Ralph and Mable Cockrum; sisters, Joann Barnes, Mary Lou Clark, and Carolyn Johnson; and brother, Bob Cockrum. Survived by sons, Kenny Cockrum (Crystal), and Rusty Cockrum; daughter, Penny Tucker (Steve); grandchildren, Haley Phifer, Nathan Clark, Stephen Tucker, Nick Tucker, Lindsey Cockrum, and Alissa Cockrum; great grandchildren, Tyson Powell, Charlotte Clark, Valerie Clark, and Benjamin Phifer; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to his church family for their love and support. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5 – 7 pm with the funeral service to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. Rev Leland Lyon will officiate. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery Thursday for the 1 pm graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church.
