Hawkins, Howard Houston, age 82, passed away November 22, 2016 at Fort Sanders Hospital. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 25, 1934 to the late Julius and Irene Massengill Hawkins. He was a member of Valley Grove Baptist church and was in the insurance business for 48 years. Howard loved to travel with his wife and family on cruises and bus tours all across the country. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Kerbela Shrine Temple; where he was active in the paper sale for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. He was an avid fan of University of Tennessee athletics. Howard was a Kentucky Colonel and Tennessee Colonel. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. Howard is survived by his wife of 63years, Barbara A. Hawkins, Son, Darris Hawkins, Sr. and wife Gail of Knoxville; daughter, Karen Selph of Seymour; grandchildren, Sherry Dennis, Michael, Darris A. Hawkins, Jr., Aaron A. Brown, Melissa of Jacksonville, Fl.; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Prichard and Arya Brown, Jayden and Lili Dennis; sister, Annette Balnicky (Robert) of Tampa, Fl. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 27, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway with funeral service to follow at 8 pm. Graveside services 2 pm Sunday, November 28, 2016 at Berry Highland South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home.
