Harlen Lowell Breeden, age 80, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Harlen was born on July 6, 1943 in Sevierville, Tennessee. He was a longtime member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and a retired Captain with 30 years of service with the City of Knoxville Fire Department.
Harlen was a 1961 graduate of Young High School and following graduation he enlisted in the US Army served his country from 1962-1965 as a Military Policeman in Asmara, Ethiopia and Washington, D.C.
Harlen was a Banjo player with the Brown Mountain Boys and in his latter years enjoyed Bee Keeping. He served as President of the Blount County Beekeeping Association.
He is preceded in death by parents, Homer Burl Breeden and Zella Mae Breeden.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Pat Breeden; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Heidi Breeden; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Andrea Breeden; grandchildren, Kyle and wife Rachel, Will and wife Olivia, Madeleine, Keira and Kerrington Breeden; sister, Wanda Day; brother, Dean Breeden; children by marriage, Michael and Janet Breeden and family, Rick and Melissa Breeden and family, Barb and Michael Fitzpatrick and family, Chuck and Holly Breeden and family.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service at 6 pm. Rev. Don Wilson, Rev. Charlie McNutt and Fire Department Chaplain Carl Ford will be officiating. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery 8:30 am Thursday, August 3, 2023 for graveside services.
