GUY PERRY ANDERSON JR. - passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on June 9, 2016. He was 84 years old. He was married to Opal Anderson with whom he shared 56 fun filled years of marriage until her death on February 12, 2011. Guy (affectionately known to many as Andy) was born on May 3, 1932, in Pierce, Florida, to Guy Perry and Beatrice Smith Anderson. Guy attended the University of Florida and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. His travels eventually took him to Nashville, Tennessee where he met and married his beloved, Opal, and began a stellar career with AT&T Corporation. Guy retired from AT&T/BellSouth in 1992 and launched into a second career that spanned 20 years with United Way of Greater Knoxville. He tirelessly helped raise millions of dollars for those in need and April 26, 2011 was forever declared Guy Anderson Day for Knoxville, TN. Guy moved to Franklin, TN in 2013 to be close to family. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Anderson Slemp and Deirdre Sue Anderson, son-in-law Keith Slemp, grandchildren, Andrew Slemp and wife Tyrella Slemp and Caroline Slemp, great grandson Benjamin Slemp, and sister-in-law Helen Hall. Guy loved his world travels with Opal, loved water and snow skiing, loved all of his friends and family and was truly a VFL - VOL FOR LIFE. Services for Guy will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00pm with funeral service and burial to immediately follow.
