Elbert Ellis Griffith was born in Griffith Creek, TN on March 27, 1942, and went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2022. Elbert was a graduate of Whitwell High School and the University of Tennessee. He worked as an electrical engineer for the Knoxville Utilities Board and retired after thirty three years of service.
Elbert was a faithful and active member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as deacon and sang in the choir. He loved singing and was a member of the "For Him" quartet that traveled to regional churches spreading the gospel. Elbert also enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and spending time with his three granddaughters.
Elbert is preceded in death by his parents Elbert Elvin and Hannah Atterton Griffith and granddaughter Tristan Lippmann. He is survived by his wife of fifty six years Barbara Holbert Griffith, son Michael (Zel) Griffith, daughter Kimberly (Craig) Lippmann, granddaughters Sydney Lippmann & Tiffany Griffith, brother Arlie (Janet) Griffith, sisters in law Wilma (Herman) Waddell & Frances (David) Hoffman, and several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 5-7pm at Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave, Knoxville, TN. The funeral service will be held immediately after at 7pm.
