Earl Alfred Brown, Jr entered his eternal rest on March 31, 2022. Earl was born to the late Earl Brown, Sr. and Evelyn Jackson Brown in Rockwood, TN. He was educated in Roane County where he excelled in sports. Earl went on to attend Tennessee State University. Upon leaving there he enlisted in the Navy traveling extensively. During his time in the military, he married the love of his life Cecelia Tulloss, who was herself in the Air Force at the time. They were joined in holy matrimony in 1957. Earl served in the Vietnam War returning home safely to his family. He also served from the Pacific to the Pentagon. During his time in Washington, DC he served his country as an Air Marshal.
Retiring to his beloved home state of Tennessee he then became employed at ORNL only retiring to care for his beloved wife. Earl was known as the loved and respected family patriarch, who not only cared for his family, but for others as well. Earl was an avid reader, reading his beloved westerns and multiple newspapers daily. Earl was an explorer who mapped out his route and enjoyed riding. Those who knew him knew he loved to be on the grill and loved his sweets. Earl was a faithful member of Payne Avenue Baptist Church, where he supported and served on multiple committees.
Earl Jr. as he was affectionately known was preceded in death by his parents Earl Sr. and Evelyn, his devoted wife, Cecelia, siblings Earlene, Elbert, Eva, and James. He leaves loving memories to cherish his life to his daughter Angel Little (Will) of Hephzibah, Ga, his son Lavely Brown of Wartburg, TN, his beloved Granddaughter Maya Little of Knoxville. He is survived by his sister Eunice Brown of Rockwood, TN and brother Emmitt Brown of Oliver Springs, TN. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn his passing.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Earl at 12:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service, and interment will follow in the cemetery with Military Honors.
