Dustin Newton, age 45, entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. His battle with many health issues including Spina Bifida since birth and most recently Cancer, showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a unbelievable attitude and faith. Dustin was a devoted and faithful son and brother.
Preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Newton; grandparents, Roy and Lillian Newton, Luther and Delores Hammons.
Survivors include; father, Herb Newton and wife, Bahallah; brothers, Chad Newton and wife, Leigh Ann, Jake Newton, Jim Little and wife, Emerald; nephews, C.J. Newton, Kash, Gage, Hampton and a host of other relatives.
Dustin had a loving and caring heart and a fighter’s spirit. He cherished his work with the Red Cross. Dustin was passionate in helping others with disabilities, his deployments with the Red Cross included the wildfires in California. Prior to his cancer, he was the Red Cross Disaster Action Team Coordinator, in addition to being the Red Cross Regional Disability Integration Program Lead for Tennessee, he received many awards and accolades while being with the Red Cross. Dustin also volunteered for the Spina Bifida Association of America as well as being on the (SBAA) State and Federal Advocacy Council.
Dustin was appointed and commissioned the “Tennessee Ambassador of Goodwill” by Governor Lee. In years past, he was an internet manager with several new car dealerships. Dustin will surely be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped care for Dustin during his time of need, including Vanderbilt Hospital, Tennessee Cancer Specialists, Parkwest Hospital, Hospice in addition to all their staff for managing his care. Their special care and love gave Dustin peace, while preserving his dignity, and let all of us enjoy special times as a family. We will forever be grateful.
Family will receive friends from 5-7pm Friday, September 16th at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service at 7pm. Dr. John Avant will officiate. Private family interment will take place at Lynnhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross.
