David O'Dell

O’Dell, David Scott age 82 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2014. A native of Murphy, NC, but lived most of his life in Knox and Anderson County. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. O’Dell was affiliated with the steel industry for many years, owner of Beverly Steel, Inc. where he remained actively involved. He loved fishing, playing banjo, farming and spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His world revolved around their happiness. Preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Lela Lovingood O’Dell. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gladys Gentry O’Dell; daughter, Teresa Rigell of Andersonville, TN; daughter, Debra Ashton and husband, Richard of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Phyllis Childress and husband, William of Norris, TN; son, Michael O’Dell and wife Pamela of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Rigell and wife, Michelle of St. Louis, MO; Molly Peek and husband, Kevin of Knoxville, TN; Morgan Rigell of Andersonville, TN; Eric Ashton of Sydney, Australia; Emily Ashton of Knoxville, TN; Andrew Childress of Norris, TN; Alexandra O’Dell of Knoxville, TN; sister, Opal Graves of Social Circle, GA, and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of his courageous battle. The services will be private with an interment in the Lynnhurst Cemetery.
