January 3rd, 2022 surrounded by those who loved him the most. Our Hero: Husband, Father, Papaw, and Friend. Of all the things he accomplished in his lifetime - and those stories are endless - his greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so greatly. He lived for his family - protecting them, taking care of them, doing anything he could to make sure we lived a fulfilled life. Anyone who knew him can recall his laugh, his big smile, his sarcasm, his mischievous side, his hugs, his kind heart, his strong will, and his determination to always do what was right by those he cared for. He was, truly, one-of-a-kind.
Any of us that came into contact with him were left with an important lesson about life. His friends could say he was tough as nails - a pillar of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. His family will tell you that he taught us the value of unconditional, undying, and unwavering love. Lessons that all of us will keep with us forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Edna Caldwell, as well as his siblings, Jess, Jean, Harry, Bill, and Bobby. He is carried on by his wife, Judy, his children Candy and Dave Jr., his grandchildren Amanda and David III, his great-grandson Tayfur, his “baby” (his cat) Jack Jack, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Married for 59 years, he and Judy shared a love that is rare to find in the world. They are proof that true love exists, and that when you have it - you can accomplish absolutely anything, even almost defying death.
We will be having a private graveside service. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this time, and we respectfully ask that you allow us time to grieve, be together, and figure out how we are supposed to carry on without him.
