Clay William Freeman, age 77 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Life Care Center in Jefferson City. Clay was a Deacon and member of Pratt’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Carter High School, Class of 1958, and retired from Honeywell (formerly Jim Robbins Seat Belt Company). He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Jackson Freeman; paternal grandparents, James Riley Freeman and Laura White Freeman of Andrews, NC; step grandmother, Maggie Freeman Williams of Calhoun, TN; and maternal grandparents, James L. Oglesby and Margaret Jane Pratt Oglesby; parents, William Claude Freeman and Dorothy Oglesby Freeman; and brothers, James Riley, Floyd Atchley, and Jackie Lawrence Freeman, all of Knoxville, TN. Clay is survived by his sisters, Patsy F. (Don) Berry-Lawson of New Market, Dallie Wilkerson of Andersonville, and Sue (Ray) Lee of Knoxville; brothers, Riley (Pat) and Wayne (Loretta) Freeman of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews, and many cousins in the Knoxville, North Carolina, and California area. Family will receive friends Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm.
