Kirkpatrick, Chris (“Tiny”) Shubert, age 88, passed away at Hillcrest North Saturday, March 5, 2011. She was a member of Third Creek Baptist Church, where she served as pianist until 2 years ago. A professional musician, she had played for numerous political rallies, horse shows, weddings, beauty contests, including Miss Tennessee and Miss Teen Tennessee. She played the organ at Helma’s Restaurant for years. She was 11 when she started playing piano for her church; she later played for several Knoxville and Chattanooga churches. Owner of Kirkpatrick Organ Studio in the 1970’s, she also worked for the Knox County Welfare Department, from which she retired in 1984.
Preceded in death by husband, Paul Kirkpatrick; daughter, Cynthia Riley; parents, Ben and Ruby Shubert; sister, Margaret Owens; stepmother Ena Shubert; grandson, Jimmy Riley.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy K Wright; sister, Barbara (James) Davis; granddaughters, Kellie (Mike) Ward, Jennifer (John) Stinnett; great-grandchildren, Lee Anne Ward (Brandon) Yancey, Michael A. Ward (Chelsey), Mark Allen Lane, Sarah Lane; great-great-grandchildren, Hannah Grace and Tristan Lee Yancey, Aiden Michael Ward; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel, Monday, from 6pm until the 8pm funeral service, officiated by Rev. Mike Segers and Rev. Rod Duncan. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Tuesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for 11:00 am interment services. James Davis, Rusty Davis, Jim Owens, Clarence Hutchison, Brandon Yancey, and Michael Ward will serve as pallbearers.
