Chooi Liem Fong

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Chooi Liem Fong, left us peacefully in the late evening of August 29, 2022. She was surrounded by loved ones and cared for until the end by the wonderful and compassionate care team at Parkwest Medical Center. Ama, as most of us call her, was born on April 22, 1935 in Perak, Malaysia. In 1965, she married Chew Sai Chong, they raised their four children: Chew Keat Wan, Chew Keat Mee, Chew Keat Sim, Chew Yau Eng, as well as her husband’s two children from another relationship, Pitpat Chew and Pichai Chew.

Ama never met a stranger. Whether she knew someone five minutes or five decades, she loved them with all her heart. She also loved to cook and sew, and she especially loved to share the fruits of those passions with all of her loved ones. Ama also loved to learn; every day, she learned something new through TV, reading, or just talking to someone else, and she would not hesitate to share that newfound knowledge with everyone else.

Ama is preceded in death by her husband Chew Sai Chong, and her brothers, Foong Kok Hee and Foong Kok Lam. She is survived by her six children and fourteen grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home. A viewing will be held from 11am to 3pm with a service to follow at 3pm.
