Chester S. Harper, of Knoxville Tennessee, passed away on July 11, 2023. He was born on October 23 1932 in Mosheim, TN. He was a 1950 graduate of Young High school. Chester enlisted in the United States Air Force at 17 years old and served for 2 years in the Korean War. After a brief period of working in Washington D.C., he returned to the Karns community and began his career at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base. He had a total of 42 years military service, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant.
Chester accomplished many things in his life. He visited all 50 states and 32 foreign countries crossing the equator 4 times, and flying faster than the speed of sound in an F-104 Starfighter. He was married to Ann Bolinger Harper for 62 years. Together they raised two children and three grandchildren that he loved very much. Chester was very involved in the Karns Community. He was a member of the West Knox County Optimist Club and member of Grace Baptist Church. He helped to develop the Karns Little League Ballpark, where the major league field is named in his honor. His greatest joy was his family and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann Bolinger Harper. Parents Bruce and Reba Harper. Sisters Helen (Harold) Davis and Jackie Harper. Brothers John, Max, Jim (Shirley), and Bill Harper. Grandson Tanner Hill.
Survived by Daughter Cindy (Mike) Callahan. Son Larry Harper. Grandchildren Haley Hill and Jake Harper. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Monday, July 17, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Grace Baptist Church with the service to follow at 7pm with Pastor Matt Mercer officiating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 9:45am at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for a 10 am interment. Pallbearers include, DeWayne Harper, Max Donald Harper, Eric Harper, Wayne Bolinger, Randy Bolinger, Von Ray Bolinger, Jamie Bolinger, David Gordon and Jake Harper.
