Bill Houston Pruett, age 92 of Knoxville entered his Heavenly Home on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Bill is a member of Arlington Church of Christ, Knoxville, Tennessee, for over 55 years. Bill moved to Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Knoxville in December 2020, where he made many dear and cherished friendships.
Bill was born in 1929 in Granville, Tennessee, where he was raised on a family farm in rural Jackson County, Tennessee. He is graduate of Tennessee Tech University and a retiree of Tennessee Valley Authority, where he held the position as Chief Appraiser in the District Appraisal Property and Services Branch. Bill was extremely proud to have been a part of the Tellico Dam Project. Bill is a U. S. Army Military Vet who proudly served in the Korean War.
Bill’s most accomplished hobby was woodworking, where he built custom furniture pieces. He became particularly intrigued by dulcimer instruments, after seeing them in a small shop in Maggie Valley, Tennessee. Soon after, he ventured into building his first dulcimer. Over many years, he amassed an extensive handmade dulcimer collection, built in his own garage.
Bill is survived by son Jeff Pruett and daughter-in-law Judy Pruett, Knoxville; stepdaughter Judy Kriss (Paul), Bybee, Tennessee; and grandson Adam. Bill was preceded in death by parents Benton and Lillie Pruett; brothers John Frank, Otis Clark, and Benton Finas; sisters Mary Locke and Catherine Flatt; son Phillip Clark Pruett, wives Lois Bandy Pruett; and Mardell "Pat" Darnell Pruett.
Bill’s family would like to thank all employees and special friends at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, who made his life so enjoyable and interesting. Bill also cherished all his Knoxville special friends, especially members of Arlington Church of Christ.
Celebration of Life will be held at Arlington Church of Christ, 2206 Tecoma Drive, Knoxville on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 5 pm, with service at 6 pm, with Minister Mark Brackney officiating.
