Betty Jean Sampson, age 90, of Knoxville, Tennessee was called to the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Jean was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina. She journeyed to Washington D.C. with 3 classmates after high school to work for Public Utility Company and later attended UT as both student and employee where she worked in UT Benefits and Plans. Through a co-worker Jean was introduced to her beloved husband, Charles. Jean enjoyed gardening, flowers, birdwatching, crafts and sewing. She enjoyed painting, square dancing and was active in her church, Rocky Hill Baptist.
Jean leaves behind her husband of 71 years, Charles Sampson; sons, Bob Sampson, Bill Sampson (Robin); grandchildren, Shawn Sampson; great grandchildren, Raylee and Kaden; bonus grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff), Kevin (Alexandra) and Jacob (Alyssa).
Receiving of friends will be held on Thursday, November 21 at 5pm with a funeral service to follow at 7pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 8:30am at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at John Sevier Highway. Dr. Phil Young officiating.
