Anna Mae Vaughn Bellamy, age 83, of Knoxville went to be with our Savior in heaven on August 11, 2011 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Warm Springs, Virginia on December 4, 1927.
A graduate of New Market High School & Droughns Business College, she went on to work for C. B. Atkin Realty Co. and J. K. Craig Realty Co. in the historic Burwell Building in downtown Knoxville. After a stint of being a stay-at-home mom, she was employed by Knoxville City Schools and worked in the cafeteria at both Shannondale Elementary and Central High School.
She was a faithful member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and the Friendly Endeavor Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. & Anna Vaughn and her sister, Elizabeth Lane. She also joins her husband of 63 years, Gerald Hobart Bellamy, in heaven following his death only 3 months ago. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Linda Johnson of Fountain City, Carol and Mike Trentham of Clinton, and Leah and Tony Cross of Houston, Texas. She had five grandchildren, Adam Johnson, Jessica Johnson Calloway (Ben), Chris Trentham, Travis Cross and Keith Cross. Nieces and nephews: Robin Bellamy Collins (Floyd), Michael Love (Theresa) and Ronald Love.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Allan Grossman, his nurses and staff, Thompson Cancer Survival Center nurses and staff, UT Home Health Care nurses and physical therapists and Mercy Residential Hospice in Halls for their perseverance and sustaining care over the past 7 years to the latest few months.
Family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Monday, August 15 at Fountain City United Methodist Church with the funeral to follow at 7 pm with Rev. Jim Whedbee officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery on Tuesday, August 16 at 10:45 am for an 11 am interment.
