Alvin graduated from Austin East High School where he met the love of his life Marion Gordon. Upon graduating, they married on May 15, 1970. They gave birth to two beautiful children, their daughter, Genesis Weaver and their son, Joe Weaver. Alvin enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, and tending to his animals in his spare time.
During his life, Alvin served his country in active military duty as a member of the United States Army. He enlisted in 1979 and served in various conflicts including Grenada, Panama, and Desert Storm. He received many promotions, awards and distinctions. Most notable to him was his time as a Jumpmaster with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His final post was in Mannheim, Germany before retiring in 1997. Following his military service, he worked for the United States Post Office from 2000 – 2012.
God called Alvin home on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He is preceded in death by: wife, Marion Weaver, daughter Genesis Weaver Onwo, grandson Ezekiel Onwo , father John Weaver, mother Fannie Mae Weaver, brothers James Weaver, Wayne Weaver, Joe Weaver, Clarence Weaver, David Weaver, James “Greg” Weaver, sisters Johnnie Mae Norman, Magdalene Ghosten, and special nephew David Weaver.
Alvin leaves to mourn his passing: son, Joe (Miesha) Weaver , granddaughter Evelyne Onwo, grandson Joachim Weaver, sisters Mattie G. Washington and Gail A. Weaver along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
Alvin served his family and his country well , demonstrating a fierce dedication in all he did. He loved all members of his family until God called him home, and he will be deeply missed.
