Alice was born in Knoxville, TN to Rev. Haskew and Lucile Smart on September 28,1948. She graduated from Powell High School in 1966. She married Donnie Hood Nov 3, 1973 and spent many years in South Knoxville where she was an active member of many churches including Stock Creek Baptist. She worked for AT&T retiring in 2002 with 41 years of service. Following Donnie’s passing, she moved back to North Knoxville. She married Glen Laws, September 15, 2015. They were members of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Haskew & Lucile Smart; brother, Johnny Smart; sisters, Jean Rhyne, Carolyn Foster; Husband, Donnie Hood and step-mother Betty Smart.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Laws; sons, Chris (Heather) Hood, Scott (Stephanie) Hood; step-daughters Monica Laws, Marla (David) Poling; grandchildren, Abigail & Jackson Hood, Sullivan and Sutton Hood; step-grandchildren, Zach, Zane & Ashley Poling; sister, Terry (Kenny) Widener; step-brothers: Eddie and Robbie Manis; step-sister, Jan (Jim) Rector and several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Friday May 12, 2023 between the hours 5:00 PM - 7:00 pm at Beaver Dam Baptist Church 4328 East Emory Road, Knoxville, TN 37938 with a funeral service to begin at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will meet Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 West Simpson Road, Knoxville for an 11:00 AM Interment Service Rev. Scott Hood and Rev. Buddy Johnson will be officiating. Floral deliveries will need to be delivered to Berry Funeral Home before 2:00 PM.
