Adam "Richard" Hillard, age 79 passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Adam was born March 24, 1943. He enjoyed taking care of his family and spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Richard served over 25 years in the military between the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was a member of the Shekinah Masonic Lodge #524 F&AM since 1968, and a graduate of Carter High School, class of 1962.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Hillard; mother and father, Martha and Adam Hillard; brothers, Johnny Hillard and Donnie Ray Hillard; sisters, Nancy Thornton and Wilma Hillard; and granddaughter, Paige Chesney Hillard.
Richard leaves behind his sons, Kevin (Jody) Hillard, Vance (Kelli) Hillard; daughter, Haley Hillard; step-daughter, Sandy Wyrick; brothers, Herman Hillard, Terry Lynn Hillard, Michael Hillard, Gerald Franklin Hillard; sister, Janet Ann Ferguson; grandson, Austin (Kendra) Hillard; granddaughter, Zoe Hillard; great-granddaughter, Avery Paige Hillard; and step-grandson, Brady White.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. A committal service for Richard will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Gov. John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East TN Veterans Honor Guard, PO Box 22802 Knoxville, TN 37933, in Richard's honor.
