Surrounded by love, Bill passed away on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at Grand River Hospital in his 72nd year.
Predeceased by his parents; William (1986) and Helen (2017), Bill is survived by his partner Nelson Joannette, his niece Colleen and her husband David MacPhie, and his great nephew Julian MacPhie. He was educated in the City of Waterloo and attended Wilfrid Laurier University until he was accepted to Law School at Dalhousie in Halifax, NS, graduating in 1970. Bill was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1972 and has practiced law in the Kitchener-Waterloo area since. He was an instructor of Real Estate Law for broker license candidates at Conestoga Community College in Kitchener (1974-1975). Bill was an active volunteer with the Big Brothers Association of Kitchener Waterloo (1973-1980), was an elder in the First United Church, Waterloo (1983-1988), acted as part time Commissioner with the Residential Tenancy Commission in Kitchener (1981-1985), as well as part time Commissioner on the Assessment Review Board of Ontario (1998-2001). Friends are welcome to pay their respects at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. on Thursday from 2 – 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will commence at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Brooke Ashfield officiating. In Bill’s memory, donations to the Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals Multi-Organ Transplant Program are kindly appreciated.
