Ronald Reginald "Ron" Moir passed away suddenly but peacefully at Lisaard House Tuesday October 18th 2022 at the fine age of 93. Larger Than Life - he was born in London England June 29 1929, son of the late Nathaniel and Florence.
Beloved husband to the late Sonia Moir for 67 years (June 2020). Brother to Ken. Loving father of Cheryl, Alan (Gail). Cherished Gramps to Jeremy (Emily), Stephanie (Damesh), Niki (Jeremy), Michael (Audrey), and Owen. Great Gramps to Jordan, Sam, Ethan, Logan, Kyra, Asher, Hannah, Talia, Cohen, Oliver and Ivy.
In a bold move he emigrated to Canada in 1957 not knowing what would lie ahead. He would give it 6 months - it worked. Sonia and kids followed shortly thereafter. He prospered - of course he did - although being an Englishman in a predominantly German town. His soccer skills opened many doors for him - creating many job opportunities and life-long friendships along the way. Uniroyal, Marsland Engineering, Abex industries early on. Then, in another bold move, he and 4 other partners started their own business AQA Industries - a machine shop supplying parts to various Aerospace / Farming equipment manufacturers.
This evolved into a Diemaco amalgamation, and finally into a WestHeights Manufacturing spinoff from which he retired. A special note should be made of his insight and extra effort to bring in skilled labour from overseas.
He was also a talented musician, playing the drums and "singing" with his own band The Diamonds / Ron and the Hi Fi’s.
In retirement they would travel, and golf became a real passion for him. He was a stalwart member of the "Dawn Patrol " at Rockway Golf Course - the first group off in the morning - play 18 - and be home before 9:30 for breakfast. Many long lasting friendships were created through his golf - and he shot his age or better more times than we can remember. Fanatic, outspoken (endearing) Leaf fan - to a fault - that we are sure cost him a few dollars on his ritual daily $6.00 Proline betting.
See you on the other side Dad. Peace.

With sadness and sorrow we say
Our Dear Father has left us today
Predeceased by his wife
Sonia, love of his life
Are together again - and will stay.
A bold life was lived by this man
We’re quite sure that this was his plan
And despite his old age
He quite relished the stage
And a fanatic outspoken Leaf fan.
As we get ready for final Goodbye
The following notes do apply
He played soccer, played drums
Went golfing with chums
Please remember him as a great guy
This being Ron’s final post
We would like you to join us in toast
So please raise your glass
To a man full of class
Great father, great friend and great host.
