Muriel grew up in Vineland, Ontario, graduated from Beamsville High School and then pursued Teachers’ College. She taught at Baden and New Dundee Public schools for 14 ½ years.
She married Lawrence Hoover in July 1950 and they settled down in the village of New Dundee becoming very involved in their church and community. As 73-year member of the Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church in New Dundee, Muriel taught Sunday School, was a Church Librarian, delivered Chalk Talks, documented the church history, member of the Women’s Missionary Society as well as volunteering for many other groups within the church. In her community she was 55-year member of the New Dundee Women’s Institute and a member of the Emmanuel Bible College Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her two children, Richard (Janeen) Hoover of Plattsville, Ontario and Norma (Carl) Thiele of Southampton, Ontario. Her dearly loved grandsons – David Hoover, Todd Hoover, Sterling Thiele, and her precious great-grandson, Leonardo Hoover. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hoover, her parents, Charles and Hattie Hibbett, siblings Charles Hibbett, Alice Ditchburn, Arthur Hibbett, Lois Good, Harold Hibbett, Eleanor Webb, Ronald Hibbett, and Earl Hibbett.
