Martin was a loving father to Dan (Kayla) and Deanna, and a cherished Papa to Carter Mathieson, Everly Mathieson, Hailey Gardiner, and Penny Mathieson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan Hilton (2024). Martin will be fondly remembered by Roger, Scott (Jane) Brown, and Diane Mathieson.
Being a sports fanatic, he meticulously tracked stats, becoming a walking encyclopedia of game scores and player records. This passion translated beautifully onto the basketball court, where he coached countless young athletes. Marty wasn't just a coach; he was a mentor, instilling in his players not only basketball skills, but also valuable life lessons about teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship.
Martin's warmth and humor will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Marty’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 8th from 1 - 4pm at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre. An inurnment will take place at a later date in Hamilton, Ontario.
