Her nieces Tina Dienesch (husband Dan Herbert recently deceased) and Anita Black, nephew Gerald Dienesch and wife Linda, her cousin John Dienesch and his daughters Kathleen, Karen and their families, along with great nieces and nephews she loved and adored. Maria is predeceased by her cherished and loving husband and soulmate Kurt, brother Michael and sister in law Ruth, and parents Michael and Maria Dienesch.
Maria was born in Birk, Transylvania. Her family fled Romania to Germany, finally immigrating to Canada after the war. Here she met a handsome young man Kurt, who had followed much the same path from Germany to a new home in Canada. They married June 27th1953. With his hand in hers, a world away from where she began, they built a new home, family, life. Maria became a mother a year to the day from those first steps with Kurt, with their daughter and only child Linda born on their first wedding anniversary. She would become an Oma with her grandson Christian whom she loved with an
unfathomable depth. It was this that was Maria's greatest pride - home and family; this life she built and nurtured with her boundless love. Maria and Kurt made so many friends - bonds that
lasted well over 60 years. Many in the German/Romanian community of the KW area who shared that same path of coming to Canada to build a new life. The gang at Honey Harbour and the German Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club and neighbours on Dixon St. where Maria and Kurt lived for many years. Maria nurtured, inspired and loved her family, friends, her life with a humble grace all her
own. A grace that will so dearly be missed, yet so greatly cherished by all it touched. The family offers their deepest heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lanark Heights LTC for their wonderful care.
Maria's family will receive friends and relatives to celebrate her wonderful life on Thursday, Sept. 8th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Westmount Funeral Home (1001 Ottawa St. South, Kitchener) with the funeral on Friday, Sept. 9th at 1pm.
