On March 23 we suffered an irreplaceable loss when Jack Schmidt passed away from age related illness at 86. He selflessly provided his wife Waltraud and son Rob with unconditional love, generosity and good humour. His unfailing support was an anchor for our lives: he was always there for us. Jack was a devoted employee of CN for 44 years, eventually retiring as a financial planner. A gentle, unassuming soul, he was a skilled handyman who enjoyed home improvement, travelling, golf and avidly followed the news. During WWII he briefly served in the navy. His survivors include his wife, son, sister Lydia, brother David, and many nephews and nieces along with their families. We thank the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for striving to ease his last hours.
