HECKER, Helmut - It is with sadness that Helmut's family announces his peaceful passing, suddenly at home on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Helmut is survived by his children, Helmut Jr., and Elizabeth (partner Samuel Frank), and by their mother, Maryke (nee Mueller). He is also survived by Richard Scherer (spouse Victoria) and Norma Boyle (spouse Christopher). Proud grandfather of Michael, Laura, Rebecca, Sarah and Samantha. Remembered by his sisters, Hannelore (spouse Mannfred), and Martha (spouse Helmut) in Germany. Helmut is predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Matthaus Hecker, sister Elfrieda (spouse Gottfried) and brother Rudy (spouse Elsie).
Born in Trier, Germany, Helmut came to Canada in the summer of 1957. A hard-working man all his life, Helmut owned and operated his drywall and plaster business for over 50 years, and his handiwork was well known in the area.
Friends are invited to visit at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, on Saturday January 25 from 2-4pm. An informal time of sharing will begin at 3pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
