My sincerest condolence's at this difficult time.  I only had the pleasure of meeting Fernando a few times as part of the Dufferin Construction team.  His warmth and sense of humour was immediate, the respect and appreciation of his hard work throughout his career was spoken of often.  He will be missed.

I was saddened to hear the passing of Fernando.  I worked with him at Dufferin. He was the kindest and sweetest person you could ever meet such a beautiful soul,  he will be missed.  My deepest condolences to the family.

Working with Fernando the past 26 years , he was a great guy, gentleman, and very brilliant , a pioneer in the industry .

Please accept my sincere condolences at the tragic loss of Fernando Costa. We met as colleagues at Dufferin more than 20 years ago, but he became a good friend of mine over the years. I am glad to have had the opportunity of knowing Fernando.

I was a District Manager at Dufferin when Fernando joined us and for a number of years General Manager of the amazing company. Fernando brought a unprecedented skill in bridge building to the company.  Did not matter if it was the rebuilding of the Welland Canal, departure level bridge at Pearson Airport or the ever 100 bridges on the 407 Fernando led them with ease.  Amazing! I will also remember him as  very competent, cheerful, capable professional.

He will be missed.

My dear friends, my heart is heavy alongside yours with the loss of this gentle, kind soul with the biggest smile to share with all. Sr. Fernando you’ve known me since I was a baby and I remember you since having memories. I will cherish those moments and support your girls in whichever way they need in this painful moment while they learn how to move forward without your physical presence. For so many like me Fernando, you have been a strong, calming presence who instilled so much confidence into those you supported. 

This ability is invaluable, and means so much to those who were fortunate enough to have worked with you. 

My career has been filled with many moments when all I needed was a visit from you to show me your support and to remind me that the challenge at hand was not just my burden to bear.  

None more memorable than your trips out east to ensure that I knew you had my back, and that those projects were Dufferin projects so that meant that you were all in with us!

For this commitment and support I am forever grateful and I will never forget this part of your character.  

The industry has lost a leader and a friend, but your legacy is strong, both inside and outside of the Dufferin family due to the foundation of relationships you created, and the leaders that have emerged in your wake.

You will be missed.

I’m deeply sorry to hear about the loss of Sr. Fernando. He was an incredibly kind and selfless person, someone who made a positive impact on the community and touched the lives of many. Losing someone like that is truly difficult and the void they leave behind can be overwhelming. I cannot image the pain you are all going through right now, Dina, Christine and Dee.
