David was born September 11, 1956 in Ottawa, Ontario to Dwayne and Grace Ilene (Deacon) Johns. He was the youngest of four children. He and his family moved all over Canada before settling in Kitchener, Ontario. He worked at BF Goodrich/Epton Industries in Kitchener, Ontario as a rubber worker for over 20 years before the plant closed in 1993. David was an accomplished father and role model with a wealth of knowledge that extended to all topics. He was always a go to person for help and advice, except when the race was on, we all knew not to talk when the race was on. He was always quick with a joke and a laugh to follow that would over power the room. He was a simple man with simple tastes; NASCAR, a cold beer, steak and baked potatoe, t-shirt and jeans kind of guy. During his battles with multiple health problems, he always kept a positive outlook, with the strength to overcome all that life had thrown at him. Throughout his fight with health issues, he still maintained being an excellent father and caregiver, he always fought the hardest for his family. For those who have been lucky enough to know him, the stories of his life will live on in them. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Virginia of 36 years, his two sons, Daniel and his wife Hayley, Anthony and his fiancé Aimee, his brothers Dennis and Dwayne, nephew Chris Johns, and Nieces Cassandra and Elizabeth Glassen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwayne Alwyn and Grace Ilene Johns, and his sister Carol Ann Glassen.
